Dr. Peter Oertmann
Peter Oertmann is an entrepreneur, lateral thinker and business mentor in the financial industry as well as an investor with more than 25 years of capital market experience.
Peter’s professional experience is based on the founding of several companies and many years of activity in management boards, boards of directors and investment committees - including supervised companies in the financial industry (BaFin, FINMA). His most significant entrepreneurial commitment was in 1998 the co-founding of the investment boutique Vescore Solutions as a spin-off of the University of St. Gallen (HSG) with the vision of turning innovations in financial market research into intelligent investment strategies. As CEO, Peter grew Vescore to an internationally renowned asset manager with a focus on quantitative investment processes. Following a successful sale of the company to the Swiss Raiffeisen Group in 2015, he became Chief Investment Officer of the Group. As part of further strategic steps, Vescore was transferred to the multi-boutique platform of Vontobel. He accompanied the integration and further growth of the boutique to over EUR 12 billion AuM as Vice Chairman of Vontobel Asset Management.
Peter has a PhD in Finance from the University of St. Gallen (Dr. oec.), a Master’s degree in Economics from Terry College of Business, University of Georgia, USA and earned a business degree (Diplom-Kaufmann) from the University of Bielefeld. Apart from his professional activities in the financial industry, he is a lecturer of International Finance and Asset Management at the University of Basel and the Technical University of Munich (TUM). In addition, he is a Member of the Board of INQUIRE Europe as well as of the Munich Finance Forum and a member of the Swiss Society for Financial Market Research. He has published two books and more than 30 articles on asset pricing, portfolio management, alternative assets and investment strategies in academic and professional finance journals.
