Dr. Peter Oertmann
Peter Oertmann is Vice Chairman at Vontobel Asset Management as well as entrepreneur and investor with 25 years of financial market experience.
In 1998, he co-founded the investment boutique Vescore Solutions as a spin-off of the University of St. Gallen (HSG) with the vision to transform innovations in scientific financial market research into sustainable investor results. As CEO, he grew Vescore to an internationally renowned quantitative asset management company. When Vescore was acquired by the Raiffeisen Group Switzerland in 2015, Peter became the Group’s Chief Investment Officer. In this role, he accompanied the integration of Vescore into the multi-boutique structure of Vontobel Asset Management. In his current position, Peter supports the strategic business initiatives of the boutique which has more than 10 billion euro assets under management in quantitative products and solutions.
Peter has a Ph.D. in Finance from the University of St. Gallen (Dr. oec.), a Master’s degree in Economics from Terry College of Business, University of Georgia, USA and earned a business degree (Dipl.-Kaufmann) from the University of Bielefeld. Apart from his professional activities in the financial industry, Peter is a lecturer of International Finance at the University of Basel and International Capital Markets and Investment Practice at the Technical University of Munich (TUM). In addition, he is a Member of the Board of INQUIRE Europe as well as of the Munich Finance Forum and a member of the Swiss Society for Financial Market Research. Peter has published more than 30 articles on asset pricing, portfolio management, alternative assets and investment strategies in academic and professional finance journals.
