About

Christoph Kaserer is Full Professor of Finance at Technische Universität München (TUM) and co-director of the Center for Entrepreneurial and Financial Studies (CEFS). From 2005 to 2010 he acted also as the Dean of the TUM School of Management. His area of expertise is corporate finance, financial intermediation and asset management.

Prof. Kaserer published his research in leading international academic journals. For the paper "Does contingent capital induce excessive risk-taking?" (joint work with Tobias Berg) published in the Journal of Financial Intermediation 2015 the best paper award 2015 has been granted. In 2005 he was awarded with the "Innovationspreis der Stiftung Industrieforschung" (together with his colleague Ann-Kristin Achleitner) for the development of the German Entrepreneurial Index GEX© in a joint project with Deutsche Börse AG. He is active as an expert for private companies and public institutions. For instance, he advised the Swiss as well as the German Government on the privatization of Postfinance, the regulation of Private Equity and different capital market issues. Since 2016 he has been appointed as a member of the Group of Economic Advisors of the European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA). Since many years Prof. Kaserer acts also as a publicly appointed court expert (öffentlich bestellter und vereidigter Sachverständiger) with a long list of written expertises.

Before joining TUM he was a Full Professor of Financial Management and Accounting at Université de Fribourg, Switzerland. He holds a degree in economics from the University of Vienna. Kaserer is married and has three children.
